Empowering Communities for a Viksit Bharat: Atmashakti Trust's Holistic Approach to Sustainable Agricultural
At Atmashakti Trust, we are deeply committed to eradicating poverty through holistic approaches that resonate with the first Local Sustainable Development Goal (LSDG) of creating poverty-free and enhanced livelihood villages. Our sustainable agricultural programs, particularly in Odisha, are a testament to this commitment, demonstrating the power of community mobilization and the essential role it plays in driving sustainable development.
By focusing on economic development and social protection, we have made significant strides in improving the livelihoods of farmers across 15 districts. Our initiatives have not only increased farmers’ income and food security but have also dramatically improved access to government benefits. The success of our outreach efforts is evident in the impressive rise in registration rates for government schemes, jumping from 55% to 95.23%. This increase has resulted in more farmers qualifying for essential financial aid under programs like Kaliya and PM Kisan Yojna, lifting countless families out of poverty and enhancing economic resilience within their communities.
A remarkable achievement this year is the near-total participation of farmers in Rabi cultivation, with an average yield of 154 kg and an income of Rs. 15,000 per farmer. This success underscores our expertise in mobilizing and organizing communities, demonstrating that when communities share a vision with the government, they are empowered to take ownership of their development. This shared vision is crucial—not only for achieving national goals but also for contributing to the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At Atmashakti Trust, we believe that sustainable development begins with the community. When communities are organized, informed, and motivated, they become active participants in their progress. This grassroots empowerment is the cornerstone of our approach, ensuring that development is not only sustainable but also inclusive, enabling vulnerable populations to thrive and work towards self-sufficiency. Through our work, we are not just supporting farmers; we are building resilient communities that are aligned with the broader vision of a Viksit Bharat.
